Whether new results from a clinical trial that will change practice, an unexpected observational study that sheds light on a previously obscure subgroup of participants, or a novel methodology that will revolutionize how we perform a procedure, late-breaking is news that deserves attention. But has the pendulum swung so far in favor of these “Late Breakers” that other original research presented at the Congress goes unnoticed?

The Late-Breaking abstract submission track opens on 15 April 2024 00:01 CEST and closes on 28 April 2024 23:59 CEST (around 5 weeks before the congress). Late-breaking abstracts should contain new information with results that were not fully available at the time of the regular abstract submission deadline earlier this year.

Abstracts should be no more than 300 words and should include the study design, key baseline characteristics of enrolled patients, primary outcomes measured in the study, and results (excluding subgroup analyses and post-hoc or prespecified secondary analyses). The submitting author must be listed as first and presenting author, but coauthors can be included in the author list. A non-refundable processing fee of EUR 100 will be charged at the time of submission.

Top-scoring Late-Breaking Scientific abstracts will be selected for an oral presentation. Accepted authors will be notified on or before the week of 13 May, and presenting authors are expected to present their work onsite at EULAR 2024. All presenters are required to submit their financial disclosure before the congress and to abide by the Code of Conduct for Presenters. Travel/hotel accommodations and fees are the responsibility of the presenting author.
